Director Cho Hyun-tak, the mastermind behind ‘Chief Kim’, is set to lead the ‘Lee Seop’s Love’ and ‘Calm Lies’ series.
According to Xports News on the 20th, Director Cho Hyun-tak will direct both ‘Lee Seop’s Love’ and ‘Calm Lies’, which share the same universe.
It was previously reported that ‘Lee Seop’s Love’ and ‘Calm Lies’ would be adapted into live-action dramas starring Lee Jong-suk and Lee Jun-hyuk, respectively, which already sparked a lot of buzz. Since both works share a universe and aim for simultaneous production, Director Cho Hyun-tak has been appointed to direct both.
Director Cho Hyun-tak gained recognition for his sophisticated directing in the JTBC drama ‘Chief Kim’ (full title: ‘Chief Kim Who Works at a Large Corporation and Owns a Home in Seoul’), which was loved by viewers as a well-made drama last year.
In particular, the work’s quality and popularity were proven when Ryu Seung-ryong won the Grand Prize (Daesang) in the TV category at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards on the 9th. Director Cho has also directed several major works, including ‘The Atypical Family’ and ‘SKY Castle’.
The original stories are popular long-form novels by author Kim Eon-hee, which gained global popularity starting as web novels before being published as books.
‘Lee Seop’s Love’ depicts an office romance between Tae Lee-seop, a third-generation chaebol who is perfect at everything except dating, and Kang Min-kyung, the secret weapon of TK Group.
‘Calm Lies’ tells the story of a romance that begins when Tae Jun-seop, the grandson of TK Group Chairman Tae Si-hwan, gets caught up in a succession battle after meeting copywriter Yeon Woo-kyung.
The two works share a universe set against the backdrop of ‘TK Group’, with Tae Lee-seop and Tae Jun-seop being cousins. Lee Jong-suk and Lee Jun-hyuk will also maintain a connection through these series, appearing “separately yet together.”
The series is building anticipation by promising romance, complex character relationships surrounding TK Group, and even elements of bromance.
