Director Yeom Ji-ho, the mastermind behind the movie ‘Eye’, has shared some exciting behind-the-scenes stories about the casting process.
A production report for ‘Eye’ was held on the morning of May 26 at CGV Ipark Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by Director Yeom Ji-ho and actors Shin Min-a, Kim Nam-hee, Lee Seung-ryong, and Kim Young-ah.
‘Eye’ is a suspense thriller about Seo-jin, who is gradually losing her sight due to a genetic disease. While digging into the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of her twin sibling, she comes face-to-face with the truth. Director Yeom Ji-ho, who made his debut with the film ‘The Neighbor’, returns to deliver a tension-filled thriller.
During the production report, Director Yeom Ji-ho explained his motivation for directing the film, saying, “I joined this project through a connection with the production company from ‘The Neighbor’. When I first read the early script, I was intrigued by its strong traditional thriller vibe.”
‘Eye’ features a powerhouse cast including Shin Min-a, Kim Nam-hee, Lee Seung-ryong, and Kim Young-ah, alongside some fresh new faces. Regarding the casting, Director Yeom Ji-ho explained, “I had full confidence that Shin Min-a could anchor the film. Above all, I wanted a face that isn’t commonly seen in the thriller genre.”
As for Kim Nam-hee, the director shared, “After seeing his performance in the drama ‘Mr. Sunshine’, I thought, ‘He’s either a truly annoying person or an incredible actor.’ I became a fan because of that role and offered him the part out of pure fan-heart!”
Meanwhile, ‘Eye’ is set to hit theaters on June 24.
