A third-grader struggling with “dopamine addiction” and showing violent tendencies visits Dr. Oh Eun-young.
A couple raising two sons, aged 10 and 7, will appear on the May 15th episode of Channel A’s ‘My Golden Kids’.
The mother revealed that she had previously applied for help three years ago when her eldest son was seven. Despite trying various methods to bring about change, she is seeking help once again as his impulsive behavior has only worsened.
In the observation footage, the child is seen finishing his studies on a tablet after returning from school.
When the promised time arrives, the father allows him to use the phone but restricts him from playing one specific game. This causes the child’s emotions to explode instantly, leading to a violent outburst and screaming toward the phone.
The studio is left in shock when the reason why the parents had to block that specific game is revealed. The cast is equally stunned by the child’s behavior, which goes beyond simple tantrums.
Further footage shows the child forcefully waking up his sleeping younger brother. Claiming he wants to play, he shakes the brother awake and eventually drags him forcefully when he doesn’t wake up. When the brother bursts into tears and the mother tries to intervene, the child shouts, “I have no patience!”
Watching this, Dr. Oh Eun-young warns that the child’s condition has moved beyond simple impulsivity and resembles a brain that has experienced “this.”
The child also displays shocking behavior, harming himself when someone tries to discipline him.
While playing tag with friends at a playground, the child begins changing the rules to suit his own whims. When a friend tells him to wait, he stubbornly refuses, saying, “I’m not waiting.”
As soon as he is caught by the “it,” he collapses and begins to wail loudly. The playground freezes at the unexpected outburst, leaving his friends completely bewildered.
Whether the child can find his balance again amidst these uncontrollable impulses will be revealed in Dr. Oh Eun-young’s solution on the May 15th episode of Channel A’s ‘My Golden Kids’ at 9 PM.
