[Exclusive] Lena Park, Ha Hyun-woo, Kwon Jung-yeol, and Suhyun to Star in Netflix’s ‘Black and White Singer Battle’!

Netflix’s ‘Black and White Singer Battle’ (working title) has officially kicked off!

According to reports on the 25th, ‘Black and White Singer Battle’ held its first recording early this month over two days and one night.

Unlike ‘Culinary Class Wars’ which featured 100 contestants, ‘Black and White Singer Battle’ will have a total of 60 participants. The casting process was challenging, which is why they didn’t reach the 100-person mark.

The lineup consists of 15 ‘White’ singers, known as the masters, and 45 ‘Black’ singers. The highly anticipated ‘White’ singers include Lena Park, Gummy, Yang Hee-eun, Lee Hae-ri (Davichi), Ha Hyun-woo (Guckkasten), Kim Yeon-woo, Suhyun (AKMU), Kim Jo-han, Kim Tae-woo (god), Kim Yuna (Jaurim), Lee Young-hyun, Kwon Jung-yeol (10cm), and Kim Jong-seo. Meanwhile, the ‘Black’ singers feature a diverse range of challengers, from unknown artists to former idols and hidden gems whose skills make you wonder why they weren’t cast as ‘White’ singers.

The first round of recording took place early this month to narrow down the number of ‘Black’ singers. A panel of 100 industry experts, including composers, lyricists, PDs, and critics, served as judges to determine who would advance to the second round. Including rehearsals, the recording process spanned three full days.

Although the first recording happened in May, it is unlikely to air this year. The show is expected to premiere early next year.
