[Exclusive] Lovelyz’s Jung Ye-in to Star in 60-Episode Short-Form Drama ‘How to Survive in the Body of a Villainous Stepmother’

Jung Ye-in, formerly of the group Lovelyz, is set to take the lead role in the short-form drama “How to Survive in the Body of a Villainous Stepmother”.

According to TenAsia on the 13th, Jung Ye-in has been cast as the lead in “How to Survive in the Body of a Villainous Stepmother”. The drama follows Seol-hwa, a North Korean special agent who loses consciousness during a war and wakes up as a stepmother character in a South Korean drama she used to enjoy. Jung Ye-in will play the protagonist, Seol-hwa.

This project is a short-form drama with episodes lasting around 1 minute and 30 seconds each, planned for a total of 60 episodes. SLL is currently discussing the production.

Jung Ye-in debuted with Lovelyz in 2014 and was loved for her work on tracks like “Ah-Choo”, “Hi”, “Now, We”, and “Destiny (My Earth)”. She began her acting career in 2017 through the web drama “The Blue C” and tvN’s “Criminal Minds”, and has appeared in “Nara Who Wants to Be an Insider” and “My Friend’s Graduation”. Jung Ye-in also starred in DramaBox’s short-form drama “The Mysterious Chaebol Daughter” alongside Ha-jun, which hit number one on the DramaBox platform just seven days after its release.

Recently, short-form dramas with fast-paced episodes of about 1 to 2 minutes have emerged as a new trend in the broadcasting and entertainment industry. As the use of short-form platforms like YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Reels becomes commonplace, more viewers prefer content that provides strong immersion and stimulation in a short time rather than following a long narrative. From a production standpoint, these offer high buzz potential based on relatively low production costs and fast consumption. For actors, the advantage is the ability to reach viewers more easily through short and intense characters.
