EXO’s Lay has made a grand appearance on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet!
On May 12 (local time), EXO member Lay walked the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the 79th Cannes Film Festival held in Cannes, France.
This marks Lay’s first visit to Cannes in two years since 2024. He is reportedly attending the “Chinese Cinema Night” event at this year’s festival as a global ambassador.
“Chinese Cinema Night” is a cultural event designed to celebrate the achievements of Chinese cinema at major global film festivals and promote exchange with the global film industry.
Active as a multi-hyphenate singer, actor, and producer, Lay is said to be serving as a bridge connecting the Eastern and Western film industries at this event.
Meanwhile, Director Na Hong-jin’s new film “Hope” was officially invited to the competition section, and Director Yeon Sang-ho’s “Swarm” was invited to the Midnight Screening section of this year’s festival.
Additionally, Director Park Chan-wook is serving as the Jury President. While Jeon Do-yeon, Song Kang-ho, and Director Hong Sang-soo have previously served as jurors, this is the first time a Korean filmmaker has held the position of Jury President, making him the third Asian to do so.
