Gang Dong-won Nails Headspin in 'Wild Thing', Even Suffers Rib Injury!

Actor Gang Dong-won revealed that he personally performed a headspin for the movie ‘Wild Thing’.

According to News1 and Star News on the 19th, Gang Dong-won held a press interview for the film ‘Wild Thing’.

‘Wild Thing’ is a comedy about Triangle, a co-ed dance group that once dominated the music scene but disbanded overnight due to an unexpected incident, returning to the stage after 20 years.

Gang Dong-won plays Hyun-woo, the leader and “dance machine” of the three-member group Triangle. Hyun-woo is a struggling entertainer whose fame has faded over time. After losing his regular radio spot, he receives an offer to appear in a live concert featuring nostalgic hits and sets out to reunite the full Triangle lineup.

Regarding the performances of songs like ‘Love is’ and ‘Shout it out’, Gang Dong-won shared, “I practiced so much that it really felt like I was debuting.”

Since he played a “dance machine,” he had to learn how to dance. He even performed the headspin himself, explaining, “I thought a headspin represented Hyun-woo’s dream, which continues even when it seems like it might break.” He revealed that he practiced for four hours a day with a professional dancer.

He also mentioned getting injured during the process. “I suffered a rib injury while doing a windmill,” he said. “The pain in my ribs started just as I was transitioning from one rotation to two.”

When asked if he still dances these days, he replied, “I don’t dance now,” but added with a laugh, “The funny thing is that I still keep the beat. I used to be too embarrassed to do it, but now the gestures just come out naturally.”

‘Wild Thing’ is set to be released on June 3rd.
