Gang That Kidnapped and Assaulted YouTuber Sutak Sentenced to 25 and 30 Years in Prison

On the 15th, the Incheon District Court’s Criminal Division 13 (Presiding Judge Kim Ki-pung) held a sentencing hearing and handed down sentences of 30 years and 25 years to A (26) and B (24), who were detained and indicted on charges including attempted robbery-murder. C (37), who was also detained and indicted for aiding and abetting robbery-injury, was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

The court stated, “A and the gang committed this crime to escape debt and seize the victim’s belongings. They thoroughly planned the location of the crime, the method of assault, the kidnapping, the concealment of assets, and even the disposal of the body.”

The court further explained the sentencing, saying, “During the crime, they used fists and baseball bats to repeatedly strike the victim’s head, causing horrific injuries such as a skull fracture and loss of consciousness, which threatened the victim’s life. Furthermore, they only admitted to the crimes when objective evidence was presented and attempted to give false statements, showing very poor behavior after the crime. They have not been forgiven by the victim, nor have they made any effort to recover the damages.”

The gang was indicted for kidnapping, assaulting, and attempting to murder YouTuber Sutak around 10:40 PM on October 26 last year in a parking lot of an apartment in Songdo International City, Incheon. They forced the victim into a vehicle and drove him to the Gungwon Cemetery parking lot in Geumsan-gun, Chungnam, about 200km away, but were arrested in the act by police who responded to Sutak’s report. Investigations revealed that A planned the crime to steal money and kill the victim after the victim, who had been entrusted with selling luxury cars, demanded the return of a deposit.
