Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon Still Lives in the Dorm After 20 Years: “I Use a Huge Space Rent-Free!”

Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon revealed that she has been living in the group’s dorm for 20 years.

On the June 6 episode of tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’, Hyoyeon appeared as a guest alongside fellow members Yuri and Sooyoung. The three have been receiving a hot response recently after forming ‘Hyo-Ri-Soo’ via Hyoyeon’s YouTube content, as a playful counterpart to the unit ‘TaeTiSeo’.

When MC Yoo Jae-suk brought up the fact that Hyoyeon has lived in the dorm for 20 years, she explained, “I just lived there without thinking much about it, and one by one, everyone else left. It’s not like I wanted to be alone.”

Yoo Jae-suk expressed his amazement, joking, “Even though we have the Hyo-Ri-Soo trio here today, we could have introduced Hyoyeon as the idol who has lived in a dorm for 20 years since her debut. This is something that would appear on ‘Believe It or Not’.”

When asked if she gets to use the dorm quite spaciously, Hyoyeon replied, “I do use it quite widely.” Yuri added, “It’s huge. It’s nearly 50 pyeong.”

Hyoyeon praised her agency, saying, “It’s a very good company.” She added, “To make it a win-win, I’m working hard and going on overseas tours. I can’t just take without giving.” She further sparked laughter by revealing, “I don’t pay anything like rent. I just have to do my best. I always feel grateful, so every time I enter the dorm, I say ‘thank you’.”

Hyoyeon also mentioned, “Yuri comes and goes sometimes, and the members meet at the dorm. Yuri’s bed is still there.” When Yoo Jae-suk compared the situation to married daughters visiting their mother, Hyoyeon joked back, “I’m the one who kicked them all out,” adding more laughter to the set.
