Go Dam-hee, a third-year middle school student living with spastic paraplegia, has revealed a brand new dream!
On the May 13th episode of KBS1’s ‘AM Plaza,’ the ‘Challenge! Dream Stage’ segment introduced a variety of touching stories from its guests.
Appearing in a wheelchair, Go Dam-hee shared, “I suffer from spastic paraplegia. It’s a condition that makes it difficult to even walk or stand due to muscle weakness, paralysis, stiffness, and increased muscle tension.”
Despite the challenges, Go Dam-hee said, “I love singing so much that I’ve always wanted to stand on stage.” With the support of her mother, who understood her deep desire, she continues to pursue her passion for music.

Go Dam-hee also revealed that she underwent a major surgery in 2025. She explained, “It was a very significant procedure where bones in my legs were cut and pins were inserted to lengthen the muscles.” She opened up about the struggle, saying, “I couldn’t move after the surgery. I couldn’t attend school, and most importantly, I couldn’t sing, which is what I love most. It was so frustrating and upsetting.”
However, she pushed through the difficult recovery process, comforted by her parents and the hope that she would one day sing again.
Now in her third year of middle school, Go Dam-hee shared her new goal: “I have a dream now. Because walking was so hard, attending school was a struggle, so I hadn’t thought about it before, but now I’ve decided to challenge the entrance exam for an arts high school. Since I struggle to even stand on my own, I can’t put strength into my core, which makes singing difficult. Instead, I’m practicing by using my upper body more.” Her determination earned her a warm round of applause.
Singers Jin Si-mon and Ahn Sung-hoon were moved to tears as they watched Go Dam-hee deliver a performance with a clear, bright voice, supported by her mother.
