Gong Seung-yeon has officially knelt before Byeon Woo-seok!
In the MBC Friday-Saturday drama ’21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife’ aired on May 15, we saw Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo-seok) narrowly escape a devastating fire, thanks to the brave Seong Hee-joo (IU).
Following the incident, Seong Hee-joo and Grand Prince Ian worked to regain their composure. While Grand Prince Ian focused on returning to his official duties, Seong Hee-joo kept a sharp eye on Min Jung-woo (Noh Sang-hyun).
The tension peaked when Seong Hee-joo confronted the Queen Dowager (Gong Seung-yeon). Determined to uncover the truth behind the fire, she pressed, “If you don’t want to be suspected, let me see all the palace attendants’ duty records. You’ll be fine, and that’s the only way Your Highness will be okay too.”
Meanwhile, the Queen Dowager, pressured by her father Un Seong-won (Cho Jae-yoon), eventually sought out Grand Prince Ian and knelt before him. In a shocking confession, she revealed, “I am committing a great sin. My father is trying to kill you.”
She presented evidence of the events from the wedding day and added, “I have the child who worked at the Grand Prince’s office, and they’ve promised to testify.” Through tears, she begged him to punish her and her father, stating she would bear the consequences.
The Queen Dowager pleaded, “I have a duty to protect the royal family, which is why I am protecting you. Please ensure that my father’s greed can no longer harm you or the royal family. I beg you, just protect His Majesty.”
Grand Prince Ian questioned her, “The higher the honor, the more shameful the fall. You will be remembered as a sinner forever in the royal family and in history. Are you truly okay with that as long as His Majesty is protected?” To which the Queen Dowager simply replied, “That is enough.”
Previously, the Queen Dowager had revealed her past feelings for Grand Prince Ian, admitting she had given up her heart and her future before marrying his older brother.
