Actress Han Ga-in recently opened up about a particularly challenging commercial shoot!
On her YouTube channel ‘Free Woman Han Ga-in,’ the star shared, “I always see comments saying ‘your everyday makeup is prettier’ or ‘you look better without makeup.’ So, I decided to show you two looks: my daily makeup and my awards ceremony makeup!”
While getting her daily makeup done, Han Ga-in mused, “People say a clean look is the prettiest, so I wonder if this current look is much better?” Later, as she prepped for her CF makeup, the production team asked about her pre-shoot routine. Han Ga-in’s answer shocked everyone: “I have to eat well the day before. I eat things like ramyeon! I need to be a bit swollen. I look prettier when I’m swollen!”
As Han Ga-in struck some CF-worthy poses, the production team asked if she’d ever done an ‘absurd’ commercial. She recalled a challenging Samsung ad from the past: “It wasn’t absurd, but there was a pose that was just impossible! My waist had to be perfectly straight, and this part [gesturing] also had to be straight as I bent down to look at the washing machine. It had to be a straight line!”
She continued, “It looked fine in the drawing, but I just couldn’t do it! My legs were seriously sore for about two days afterward. If you search, you might even find the video! It was a pose only someone who practices a lot of yoga could pull off. After that, I thought, ‘Okay, I really need to start yoga!'” She also spilled some of her modeling secrets, revealing that she adjusts her expressions and poses depending on the product, whether it’s cosmetics, educational materials, or home appliances.
Han Ga-in also grabbed attention by dishing on her worst awards ceremony makeup and dress! She showed a hilarious photo from the Baeksang Arts Awards where her hair looked exactly like a poodle, making everyone burst into laughter. She added, “Oh, there’s another one! I once went to help senior Park Shin-yang with a performance. We stood together on stage, and I think the concept was a pierrot?” as she revealed another photo.
The photo showed Han Ga-in in a vibrant, pierrot-like costume with glitter makeup, which completely baffled the production team! Han Ga-in, looking bewildered herself, exclaimed, “I have no idea why I wore this outfit. I don’t remember at all!”
Back in 2011, the advertising industry reported that Samsung Electronics reportedly paid Han Ga-in a whopping 500 to 600 million won annually for her role as their washing machine model, which definitely made headlines!
Meanwhile, Han Ga-in first debuted as a CF model in 2002 and has since stolen hearts with her incredible acting in hit dramas like ‘Yellow Handkerchief,’ ‘Terms of Endearment,’ ‘Bad Guy,’ ‘Moon Embracing the Sun,’ and ‘Mistress.’ She married fellow actor Yeon Jung-hoon in 2005 and is a proud mother of one son and one daughter.
