Actress Han Sun-hwa has completely dominated the screen, perfectly capturing a wide spectrum of emotions.
In the May 16 episode of the JTBC Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness’ (Mo-Ja-Mu-Ssa), the deep inner wounds and agony that Jang Mi-ran (played by Han Sun-hwa) had hidden behind her bright exterior finally came to the surface.
During the episode, Jang Mi-ran opened up to Byeon Eun-ah (played by Go Youn-jung) about the bitter pain she had been suppressing. In a particularly heartbreaking scene, a drunken Mi-ran cried out that “acting isn’t going the way I want,” with Han Sun-hwa skillfully blending self-deprecating smiles and empty eyes to portray the character’s complex state of mind. It was a delicate depiction of the loneliness and sense of worthlessness lurking behind the facade of a glamorous actress.
Jang Mi-ran’s emotions burned even more intensely as she clashed with those around her. Her raw anger, poured out to Jung Hyun-woo while still wearing her makeup, left viewers feeling deeply moved.
The highlight was her confrontation with Oh Jung-hee (played by Bae Jong-ok). Filled with sorrow, Jang Mi-ran shouted, “I really did it,” after her desperate plea for her work to be acknowledged was met with cold indifference. Han Sun-hwa’s masterful control of pacing, moving from heavy silence to sudden outbursts of grief, made the character incredibly convincing.
Han Sun-hwa is receiving praise for her exceptional portrayal of the character’s duality, ranging from her cheerful side to her scarred interior. Rather than simply venting sadness, she conveyed the depth of the character’s pain through her eyes, pushing the drama’s immersion to its peak.
Meanwhile, the JTBC drama ‘Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness’, featuring Han Sun-hwa’s stunning performance, airs every Saturday at 10:40 PM and Sunday at 10:30 PM.
