HEART OF WOMAN, the first girl group from Blue Brown Records, is officially stepping into the music scene, carrying forward the musical sensibility of the late Wheesung.
A press conference for the group’s debut album, “Heart Byte : LEGACY”, was held on May 27 at The Riverside Hotel in Seoul.
“Heart Byte : LEGACY” is a full-length album that captures the heart-fluttering start of HEART OF WOMAN as they unite under one dream. It features a total of 13 tracks, including the title song “Lost in Proof”. Each track weaves together a narrative of challenges and a sincerity they never want to lose.
The group is garnering significant attention as the first rookie girl group from Blue Brown Records, a company established through the collaboration between the late Wheesung and Creative Director Myung Sang-woo.
The members shared that although they never had the chance to meet Wheesung, the co-representative and senior artist, they put in every effort to honor his vision.
Jihyun expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am thankful that the label was started with such sincerity and passion for music. This album doesn’t just honor Wheesung sunbaenim, but also homages the album structures of the 2000s. With a Part 1 and Part 2 configuration, we wanted to capture the sensibility of the era when people listened to an entire album from start to finish to feel the story.”
Ain, who previously appeared on “Killing Voice” to perform a memorial stage for Wheesung’s first anniversary, said, “While preparing the song, I tried to put my heart into every single lyric. Through that process, I feel I grew more and tried my best to follow Wheesung sunbaenim’s path.”
In an unusual move for a debut, HEART OF WOMAN chose to release a full-length album with 13 songs instead of a single or mini album.
Jihyun added, “Just like the title of our title track, we want to deliver a strong and steady heart to the public. I hope you see the 13 tracks as a homage to the full albums that our seniors used to release frequently.”
Ain shared, “As the album name suggests, we wanted to capture both the brilliant days of the label’s co-founder, Wheesung, and the story we will create together. After running hard through many moments of uncertainty and excitement, we are finally debuting. We hope you give us lots of love.”
The overall album is heavily infused with Y2K vibes. Jihyun revealed, “We tried copying old songs and referencing old videos. I even went to the US to learn dance and singing in the old style.”
Chae-i promised, “The members have very diverse and colorful talents. Starting with the Y2K concept, we plan to show a wide spectrum of songs and many different sides of ourselves. Please look forward to our activities.”
The title track “Lost in Proof” carries a message of refusing to lose oneself even in moments of collapse and instability.
Lili explained, “The highlight is the overall powerful hip-hop choreography. Please look out for the ‘pat-pat’ shoulder dance where we comfort ourselves.” Jihyun added, “It’s exactly as the title says, a way to not lose yourself. I used to have a weak mentality and lost myself easily. I hope this song provides strength to those who feel like they might lose themselves during hard times.”
HEART OF WOMAN’s debut full album “Heart Byte : LEGACY” will be released on various music sites on May 28 at 6 PM.
