The Oksu-dong apartment in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, which earned actress Kim Bu-seon the nickname “Heating Patriot,” has reportedly been subject to a provisional seizure of around 200 million won.
According to Biz Hankook on the 21st, the Seoul Eastern District Court issued a provisional seizure order for approximately 200 million won on the 1st of last month for Kim Bu-seon’s Oksu-dong apartment (exclusive area of 114.78㎡).
The creditor filed a lawsuit, claiming that borrowed money was not returned. Kim Bu-seon attended the mediation date on the 19th, but as both parties failed to reach an agreement, the case has moved to a forced mediation process. Forced mediation is a procedure where the court proposes a settlement, and if the parties do not object within a certain period, it carries the same effect as a final judgment.
During the mediation date, Kim Bu-seon wore the same outfit she had worn when appearing as a witness at the National Assembly audit in 2014. On a live broadcast on her YouTube channel that same day, she shared, “I’ve suffered a lot mentally over the past five months, and it cost a lot of money. I think I’ll need to get a loan from the bank, and I’m glad I have one house I can use for that.”
The seized apartment is the complex where Kim Bu-seon raised suspicions of heating bill corruption for some households starting in 2012. In September 2014, the fact that there were “300 households with 0 won heating bills” was confirmed, causing a social stir and earning her the nickname “Heating Patriot.”
The “one house” Kim mentioned during her live stream is seen in the context of her family situation. In August 2020, Kim Bu-seon publicly announced that she had cut ties with her only daughter, Lee Mi-so (now Lee Ru-an). Lee returned to a Channel A variety show in 2022 and revealed her name change. In July 2023, Kim stated, “My daughter married abroad without my knowledge and cleared the family register.”
Kim Bu-seon opened her YouTube channel in January 2022 and has been sharing her views on politics and current affairs. In July of the same year, she withdrew a 300 million won damages lawsuit against then-MP Lee Jae-myung.
