'Hidden Singer 8' Honors the Late Turtleman in the Most Cheerful Memorial Service Ever!

As the group Turtles celebrates their 25th anniversary, the late Turtleman is set to meet viewers once again.

In the 8th episode of JTBC’s ‘Hidden Singer 8’ airing on the 19th, the eternal leader of Turtles, Turtleman, will appear as the eighth original singer.

‘Hidden Singer’ has previously held specials for the deceased, including Kim Kwang-seok in Season 2, Shin Hae-chul in Season 4, and Kim Hyun-sik in Season 7. Season 8 will feature the genius musician Turtleman, who was loved by all generations, marking the first time a dance singer and rapper has appeared in a ‘Hidden Singer’ special for the deceased.

According to the production team, since the late Turtleman gifted hope through his music during his lifetime, this special will be conducted as the most cheerful and joyful memorial service in the world.

During the episode, Jun Hyun-moo shares a behind-the-scenes story, noting that there was a flood of applicants who could mimic Turtleman’s voice, leading the production team to joke, “It feels like the late Turtleman sent people down from heaven.” Meanwhile, Turtles members Ji-i and Geum-bi expressed their surprise, saying, “We were thinking about a special event for Turtles’ 25th anniversary when we received the casting call for ‘Hidden Singer 8,’ and we felt it was fate.”

Furthermore, it is reported that the Turtleman special followed the late singer’s strict rule of never lip-syncing during his seven years of activity by using a live audio extraction method.

Turtles members Geum-bi and Ji-i showed high confidence, stating they know Turtleman’s voice well since they performed with him for a long time. Additionally, profilers Pyo Chang-won and Kwon Il-yong brought their detective instincts to the show. Pyo Chang-won heightened expectations for his reasoning skills, saying, “I’m here to catch the impersonators.”

Meanwhile, the late Turtleman sadly left us in 2008. Having received national love through numerous hit songs such as ‘Bingo’ and ‘Airplane,’ many fans continue to miss him.
