Kwaktube asked Hwang Jae-gyun, “Your physical condition wasn’t at a point where you needed to retire from baseball, so why did you?” Hwang Jae-gyun candidly revealed, “I felt like if I played for another one or two years, my form would drop and I’d be pushed into retirement. I could have earned a higher salary if I had stayed, but honor was more important to me.”

Jun Hyun-moo subtly brought up the topic of remarriage, saying, “Tell us a bit about it on our show.” Hwang Jae-gyun opened up, stating, “I am open to the idea of remarriage,” and confessed, “I want to have my own baby.” He added, “I definitely want my child to play baseball because I can teach them personally and provide great support.” Furthermore, Hwang Jae-gyun joked, “I think I’ll get married sooner than you, Hyun-moo hyung,” to which Jun Hyun-moo reacted, “You’re such a greedy person. Doing in a row what I’ve never even done once?”

Hwang Jae-gyun married T-ara member Jiyeon in 2022, but they divorced in November 2024 after divorce mediation two years later.

After retiring from his playing career at the end of the 2025 season, Hwang Jae-gyun signed an exclusive contract with SM C&C and has been active as a broadcaster, appearing on numerous shows.

While the “Mungyeong Food Trip” with Hwang Jae-gyun ended on a cheerful note, the preview released immediately after showed Jun Hyun-moo and Kwaktube embarking on a food trip to Gimcheon, Gyeongbuk, a “national hot spot” where both seniors and Gen Z gather.
