Kim Seul-gi, who became well-known as Oksoon from the 10th batch of “I Am Solo,” and Yoo Hyun-chul, a former cast member of “Love After Divorce,” have confessed that they are currently facing a second divorce crisis.
On the May 19th episode of tvN STORY’s “Lee Ho-sun’s Counseling Center,” the couple, who have been remarried for three years, spoke honestly about the conflicts they have faced while living as a blended family.
As the couple appeared on the show, panelist Jang Young-ran expressed her excitement, saying, “I know her. She’s Oksoon from ‘I Am Solo’.” The blended family consists of Yoo Hyun-chul’s 12-year-old daughter and Kim Seul-gi’s 11-year-old son.
Regarding their first meeting, Kim Seul-gi revealed, “My husband saw my broadcast and contacted me first through SNS.” She added that they naturally grew closer by sharing their common experiences as parents. Yoo Hyun-chul explained his decision to remarry, stating, “Creating a happy family was a major goal in my life,” and noted that they started dating with remarriage in mind from the very beginning.
However, reality after marriage was not so easy, and they frequently clashed over parenting styles. When their daughter wouldn’t eat, Yoo Hyun-chul tried to follow her around to feed her, but Kim Seul-gi believed that at that age, she should develop the habit of eating on her own. She further explained that these differences in lifestyle habits became a seed of conflict, mentioning that while her son cleans up his dishes after eating, the daughter simply leaves them.

Kim Seul-gi also shared, “Even now, the daughter calls me ‘Aunt’ and the son calls my husband ‘Uncle’.” She expressed her sadness, noting that her son says the words won’t come out even when he wants to call him ‘Dad,’ and it hurts when people around them say they don’t seem close yet. She also mentioned that on days when the daughter goes to see her biological mother every other week, she asked her husband to spend time with their son, but he often just slept. Kim Seul-gi said, “I asked my husband to pay more attention, but he said he felt sorry for spending time with us while the daughter was away. That made me feel neglected.”
Yoo Hyun-chul confessed, “Because I run a business and come home late, I felt like my daughter would be left all alone,” admitting that he became sensitive over small things, which even led to the family dividing themselves into teams.
Lee Ho-sun empathized with the couple, stating that blended families often feel hurt by petty and trivial things. Hearing this, Kim Seul-gi appealed, “I quit my job and moved to my husband’s area for our remarriage. I feel like I made a sacrifice but didn’t receive any compensation for it. Feeling that I am less loved than during our dating phase created more distance between us after marriage.” The couple then shocked viewers by revealing they went through a cold war for 10 months starting in January 2025, during which they barely spoke a word to each other.
Yoo Hyun-chul admitted, “I thought I would do well in a remarried life. But I think I expressed my frustration when things didn’t go as planned. When my wife complained, I think I shifted the blame to her, saying things like, ‘You’re a housewife’ or ‘This is your job, so why are you complaining to me?'”
Issues regarding the wife’s male friend also came up. Yoo Hyun-chul revealed, “I once met her male friend to try and get closer to him. But after seeing the friend pinch her cheek or hold hands, I told her to change her phone number and stop contacting him.” The conflict deepened when Kim Seul-gi refused to do so.
The final blow was a messenger incident. Yoo Hyun-chul secretly checked Kim Seul-gi’s phone and discovered messages where she complained about him to acquaintances. Kim Seul-gi explained, “I was just venting, but my husband felt I had crossed a line that should not be crossed.” The most shocking part for the husband was the sentence, “I’d be better off living alone.” It is reported that this incident led the couple into the previously mentioned 10-month cold war.
