“I Am Solo” 31st batch Ok-soon has been caught up in various controversies lately, and new analysis suggests that the decision to edit her screen time was actually the production team’s own independent call.
On the 14th, a video titled “I Am Solo Sun-ja Bullying Controversy, Was Young-sook a Scapegoat? The Truth About Ok-soon’s Pregnancy Rumors” was uploaded to the channel “Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho.”
In the SBS PLUS and ENA “I Am Solo” episode aired on the 13th, fans noticed Ok-soon’s screen time had been significantly reduced. This sparked online speculation that she might have asked the production team to cut her scenes because she is pregnant.
Addressing the drama, Lee Jin-ho mentioned that the claims weren’t entirely baseless, as videos of Ok-soon badmouthing Sun-ja were set to private and her overall appearance in the show dropped. However, he clarified, “While rumors spread that Ok-soon strongly requested edits and the production team complied, this has been found to be untrue. Our investigation confirmed that Ok-soon never actually requested any edits regarding her content.” He added that PD Nam Gyu-hong, who directs “I Am Solo,” is well-known for having strong convictions, making it unlikely he would simply give in to a cast member’s request.
That said, he confirmed that her screen time definitely decreased. “While it wasn’t a total cut, some editing did occur. This appears to be a minimum measure by the production team to protect the cast as the bullying controversy spread,” he explained. As for the pregnancy rumors, he pointed out that they are false, meaning the entire premise that she requested edits for prenatal care is completely wrong.
Previously, in the episode aired on the 6th, Ok-soon and two other female cast members sparked outrage for badmouthing Sun-ja. Ok-soon, in particular, faced heavy criticism for making rude remarks that fueled conflict among the participants. Following the backlash, Ok-soon has set her personal social media account to private.
