Entertainer Yoo Jae Suk was surprised to discover a 30-year-old connection with actress Jun Ji Hyun.
He especially sparked laughter by not even remembering that he was the MC for Jun Ji Hyun’s first-ever variety show debut.
In a video released on the YouTube channel ‘ddun ddun’ on the 16th, actress Jun Ji Hyun appeared as a guest.
He recalled their connection starting about 22 years ago through a commercial, saying, “Jun Ji Hyun was the main model, and I was just filmed briefly as a side character,” adding a touch of humor.
Yoo Jae Suk also shared a detailed story about greeting Jun Ji Hyun in a parking lot. He laughed, saying, “I should have just shaken hands, but suddenly I held her hand and did it in a Western style. Since Jun Ji Hyun went along with it, I wondered, ‘Do we have some kind of colleague chemistry?'”
During the conversation, the production team revealed a surprising fact: “After looking into it, Jun Ji Hyun’s first variety show debut was with Yoo Jae Suk.”
To this, Yoo Jae Suk reacted with confusion, asking, “Me? What did we do together?”
The production team mentioned the segment ‘Star Try to Hold Back Laughter’ from the show ‘Show Comedy Smiling Day Good Day’ aired in 1997, explaining, “The MCs at the time were Im Ha Ryong, Yoo Jae Suk, and Kim Su Yong. Jun Ji Hyun appeared as a guest and made her broadcast debut.”
However, Yoo Jae Suk replied, “I don’t really remember,” and asked, “I wasn’t a guest, I was the MC?” which left the set in stitches.
The production team added that they had checked the footage and noted, “You were even dancing.”
Yoo Jae Suk looked bewildered, asking, “I was?” and the laughter intensified when archival footage showed a young Yoo Jae Suk performing his famous ‘Grasshopper Dance.’
Yoo Jae Suk gave a shy laugh, saying, “It was almost 30 years ago, so Jun Ji Hyun might not remember it either.”
