Im Chang-jung Celebrates 35th Debut Anniversary! “See You at the 70th” and a Comedy Movie Comeback!

Im Chang-jung (53) shared a heartfelt thank you to his fans in honor of his 35th debut anniversary.

He first stepped into the spotlight back in 1990 with the movie ‘남부군’ while still in high school, and later caught the public’s eye with a supporting role in the 1997 film ‘비트’.

While he started as an actor, he truly soared as a singer. After releasing his first album in 1995 with tracks like ‘이미 나에게로’, he became a superstar with his third album in 1997, featuring hits like ‘그때 또 다시’ and ‘결혼해줘’. He followed this success with legendary songs such as ‘소주 한 잔’, ‘슬픈 혼잣말’, and ‘나의 연인’.

Leveraging his musical fame, he shifted his focus back to acting from 2003, winning hearts with his signature comedic timing in films like ‘색즉시공’, ‘파송송 계란탁’, ‘시실리 2km’, ‘1번가의 기적’, and ‘스카우트’.

He further proved his status as an all-around entertainer by expanding into musicals, starring in ‘빨래’, ‘라디오스타’, and ‘미세스 다웃파이어’.

In a recently released 35th-anniversary video, Im Chang-jung told fans, “Thank you for staying by my side for 35 years,” and jokingly added, “I’ll see you again at my 70th anniversary!” He even gave everyone a laugh by singing a “70th anniversary version” of his hit song ‘소주 한 잔’.

He also teased a return to the big screen during a recent radio appearance, mentioning, “I think I’ll finally be able to greet you through a movie this year. It’s a comedy movie.” He also shared plans for drama appearances, ramping up anticipation for his return to acting.
