Jadu Makes a Comeback After 11 Years: “I Owe It to the Algorithm and Nostalgia!”

Jadu Makes a Comeback After 11 Years:

Singer Jadu, who recently returned with her new mini-album ‘Mal Mal Mal’, shared some heartfelt thoughts during a recent interview with Edaily.

Jadu released her new mini-album ‘Mal Mal Mal’ on the 27th of last month. This marks her first official release under her own name in a whopping 11 years!

When talking about the driving force that allowed her to break her long hiatus and release a new album, Jadu said, “Thankfully, I received help from the algorithm.”

Jadu performed at the ‘Gimcheon Gimbap Festival’ in both 2024 and last year. Following those appearances, videos of her singing her hit song ‘Gimbap’—which is a perfect fit for the festival—spread across the internet and became a hot topic.

Laughing, Jadu mentioned, “As the singer of the hit song ‘Gimbap’, I felt it was only natural to participate, but I ended up receiving an unexpectedly huge benefit.”

She continued, “Many people left supportive comments while recalling old memories, and seeing those comments made me feel my heart opening up again. I really benefited from the nostalgia.”

Jadu also explained that she received a lot of support and encouragement through her appearance on JTBC’s ‘Singer Gain 4’ last year, which motivated her to prepare a comeback album to “repay them through music.”

Meanwhile, the new album features a total of five tracks, including the title song ‘Mal Mal Mal’, which tells a story about an era where people lose their standards amidst an overflow of words. Other tracks include ‘Go ahead’, ‘Remote Control’, ‘Pick One’, and ‘Deer’.

Jadu showcased her songwriting skills by writing and composing all the tracks. Jazz pianist Oh Hwa-pyeong, who is also active with Jadu in the group Maum Jeonpasang, joined in as a producer to help with the album production.

Jadu expressed her excitement, stating, “I want to communicate with fans through a wide range of activities, from variety shows and music programs to YouTube content.”
