Jaehee recently appeared in a video on the YouTube channel run by Shin Jung-hwan, formerly of Country Kko Kko.
Talking about his recent life, Jaehee shared, “After filming a soap opera, the lineup of projects coming my way changed. Offers for movies and mini-series just stopped, even though the ratings were actually good.”
He lamented, “When I go to discuss movie roles, they tell me, ‘You did a soap opera.’ There is a perception that the status of actors who appear in soap operas drops. I do not know where that idea came from, but I think many people who have appeared in soap operas would agree.”
He explained his three-year hiatus, saying, “I really wanted to act, but there was no space for me. So I filmed another soap opera, which just led to more soap opera offers in a vicious cycle. I took a break thinking things might change if I disappeared for a while and then reappeared.”
Jaehee revealed, “Because my face is known and I have a certain age, it was hard to get hired. I worked a lot in restaurant kitchens. Recently, I have started doing TikTok live broadcasts.”
He added that while doing live broadcasts, he also worked at restaurants and took on night shifts at convenience stores.
Meanwhile, Jaehee debuted in the 1997 MBC drama ‘San’ and received a lot of love for the 2005 KBS 2TV drama ‘Ruler of Your Heart’. He has been on a hiatus since the 2021 MBC drama ‘Become Rice’.
