Comedian Jang Dong-min is making headlines for his blunt take on the employment views of the 2030 generation.
On the 16th, a video titled “Jang Dong-min criticizing 2030 ‘resting’ youth” surfaced across various online communities, capturing the attention of netizens.
The clip is from the recently released Wavve original variety show “Betting on Fact.” During the show, Jang Dong-min kicked things off by stating, “It doesn’t make sense that people can’t find jobs.”
Highlighting the labor shortages in certain industries, he emphasized, “When job postings are released, there are no applicants from the 2030 generation. Only the 4050 generation is applying.”

Agreeing with another cast member’s point that youth “only prefer office jobs at large corporations,” Jang Dong-min pointedly remarked that some young people “simply don’t want to work.”
He further questioned those who only seek enjoyment in their workplace, asking, “Do you think making money under someone else is easy?” and “Who actually enjoys working?”
Netizens are sharply divided over Jang Dong-min’s comments.
Some expressed agreement, commenting, “He’s not wrong,” “Too many young people are only looking for comfortable jobs with high standards,” and “Small and medium enterprises are desperate for workers, but applicants only care about salary and benefits.”
Conversely, others fired back, arguing, “They don’t apply because the working conditions and treatment are terrible,” “He makes a lot of money as a celebrity, so he has no idea about the harsh reality the 2030 generation faces,” and “The real ‘fact’ is that there are too many companies trying to exploit young people for minimum wage.”
