Singer Jung In has proven her one-of-a-kind vocal color, beating out the imitators to claim the final victory on ‘Hidden Singer 8’!
Appearing as the original singer in the 9th episode aired on the 26th, she took home the win with an overwhelming 69 votes. With this victory, Jung In successfully broke the jinx of this season, where every female original singer except Sim Soo-bong had been eliminated.
Before the battle began, Jung In expressed her curiosity, noting she had never seen an imitator sing her songs with such seriousness. However, the imitators showed impressive skills right from the start. The first round featured Jung In’s solo track ‘Love is’ from a Leessang album. While Jung In made a slight mistake while trying to match the older singing style of the imitators, her husband Jo Jung-chi showed off his amazing couple’s intuition by accurately identifying her voice and even the reason for her mistake.
The second round, featuring the ballad masterpiece ‘I Hate You’, created perfect harmony. This was followed by the third round with ‘Rainy Season’, which required explosive vocals and left the judging panel completely confused. Notably, an imitator with the nickname “Jung In, not Jo Jung-chi” caught everyone’s attention by revealing a surprising past connection with Jo Jung-chi during a college performance and a drama cameo.
The final fourth round to determine the winner featured Jung In’s representative hit, ‘The Uphill Road’. Despite the high synchronization of the imitators, Jung In delivered a flawless live performance that earned her a standing ovation.
Securing a total of 69 votes, the highest score for any original singer this season, Jung In shared, “I feel so grateful and happy, as if I’ve received a blessing that is more than I deserve.” Her husband Jo Jung-chi also expressed his gratitude, saying, “It feels like we’ve received a great gift because people listened to and enjoyed the stories and songs from our past.”
Following Jung In, singer Lee Seung-gi will step up as the tenth original singer of ‘Hidden Singer 8’. The intense battle between the powerful Lee Seung-gi and the formidable imitators will air on June 2nd at 8:50 PM.
