Jung Soo Jung Kicks Off Global Activities with Korea-Japan Co-Production Film 'You Hear Me'

Jung Soo Jung has officially embarked on her first global project! She’s starring in the Korea-Japan co-production feature film ‘You Hear Me,’ a project from Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s team, where she’ll be working alongside Reika Kirishima from ‘Drive My Car.’ Barunson E&A (CEO Choi Yoon Hee, Moon Yang Kwon), the company that co-produced Jung Soo Jung’s film ‘Cobweb,’ is also on board for ‘You Hear Me’ as a co-producer and handling international sales. Filming wrapped up on April 29th, and the movie is now deep in post-production.

The film ‘You Hear Me’ tells the story of Haruka, a Japanese researcher who travels to Jeju Island to collect soundscapes. There, she encounters Ayun, a mysterious young woman, which leads Haruka to confront her deceased mother and her own past. This psychological suspense film delves deep into themes of motherhood, love, obsession, and violence, exploring the complex relationship between two women who resemble each other, almost like mother and daughter, or perhaps even alternate selves. Adding to the cast, Ok Taecyeon and Ryo Narita are set to make special appearances alongside Jung Soo Jung and Reika Kirishima.

The film boasts an incredible creative team! Takama Ohye is taking the helm as director and screenwriter, while Teruhisa Yamamoto is on board as a producer. These two are vital members of Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s acclaimed team, having previously collaborated on the globally celebrated film ‘Drive My Car.’ Ryusuke Hamaguchi himself achieved international fame with ‘Drive My Car,’ winning the Best Screenplay Award at the 74th Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. Takama Ohye also shared the Cannes Best Screenplay Award for his co-writing work on ‘Drive My Car’ and has since showcased his genre prowess by penning seasons 1 and 2 of the Disney+ series ‘Gannibal.’ Teruhisa Yamamoto is a leading Japanese producer, with an impressive resume that includes ‘Drive My Car,’ the Cannes Competition invitee ‘Asako,’ and the Venice International Film Festival Silver Lion winner ‘Wife of a Spy.’

Jung Soo Jung has been on a roll, recently showcasing her increasingly mature acting skills in the drama ‘How to Become a Building Owner in Korea’ and the film ‘Jjanggu.’ Now, with her role in the Korea-Japan co-production ‘You Hear Me,’ she’s set to expand her acting career even further on the global stage! Fans can also look forward to seeing her in the upcoming drama ‘The Office Worker Who Sees Fate,’ where she’ll star alongside Seo In Guk.
