Rapper Gree (Kim Dong-hyun) was completely shocked after getting a glimpse of his father Kim Gura’s stock account!

In the May 7th episode of MBC’s ‘Where is My Home’, Gree joined as an intern coordinator just five months after completing his military service in the Marine Corps. He teamed up with Kim Sook and Kim Dae-ho to scout for apartments priced under 1 billion won in Seoul’s Mapo, Yongsan, and Seongdong districts.

Before filming, Gree visited Kim Gura’s waiting room and started a self-cam. Even while getting his makeup done, Kim Gura flexed his real estate knowledge, mentioning an 84-square-meter apartment in Banghak-dong, Seoul, for 540 million won. Gree praised him, saying, “Dad, you’re so cool because you know so much. You’re more of an expert than I thought, even better than the coordinators on ‘Where is My Home’!” However, he couldn’t resist a cheeky joke, asking, “Then why didn’t you buy a house in Gangnam?”

After a moment of thought, Kim Gura replied, “I’m doing pretty well with stocks. You’ll be surprised,” and showed the return screen only to Gree. Gree was left speechless by the numbers, while Kim Gura looked quite proud. Previously, Kim Gura revealed on a web variety show that he purchased Samsung Electronics shares at 45,000 won, yielding a return of about 100%.

Gree also shared a funny story from his time in the Marine Corps. While on leave as a private first class, he was treated to a meal by a corporal from another unit, only to find out later that the senior was actually eight years younger than him! Gree explained, “The senior paid for the meal, saying ‘You’re working hard.’ In the Marine Corps, you use honorifics to seniors regardless of age.” When Yang Se-hyung mentioned that the military now uses the more casual ‘yo’ style instead of the strict ‘danakka’ style, Gree looked displeased, remarking that “military discipline has slipped.”

Gree also touched upon his own home ownership. Kim Gura had previously revealed on YouTube that Gree owns a 32-pyeong apartment in Guri, Gyeonggi-do. The apartment was bought for 500 million won with a 250 million won jeonse deposit, and its value jumped to 1 billion won after being selected as a redevelopment area. During the show, Gree mentioned he took out a loan for about 50% of the purchase. When Kim Dae-ho joked, “I probably have more debt; I’m at a full 80% loan,” Gree wittily responded, “I’m the one who lost the loan battle,” adding to the laughter.

‘Where is My Home’ is a program where stars engage in a realistic house-hunting battle to help busy modern people find their dream homes. It airs every Thursday at 10 PM on MBC.
