K-Beauty Legend Jung Saem Mool's Relatable Mom Struggles and Global Success on 'Omniscient Interfering View'

MBC’s variety show ‘Omniscient Interfering View’ showcased the daily life of Jung Saem Mool in the episode aired on May 3.

Returning to the show after four years, Jung Saem Mool revealed her recent achievements as a CEO. Her brand recorded annual sales of 135 billion won last year and is available in 3,400 stores across 21 countries. At her company, where over 100 employees work, she showed her passion for developing eye makeup for various eye colors by personally painting and comparing shades. Her impressive scrapbooks, which she has collected since her teens—covering facial bone structures, anatomical charts, skin thickness, and tone analysis—served as the foundation for her current success.

However, even this charismatic legend faced a surprising reality as a mother. She was horrified to see her teenage daughter using dirty makeup puffs, leading her to personally wash the brushes and puffs. To make matters worse, her daughter’s pouch was filled with products from other brands, and she even dropped a painful review, saying, “I think these are better,” which left Jung Saem Mool feeling the heat of frustration in real-time. Despite her “golden hands” that have touched numerous top stars, she struggled while trying to draw her daughter’s eyeliner as the teen made various picky requests. It was a moment of genuine laughter as the “K-Beauty Godmother” faced the inevitable war between a mother and her adolescent daughter.

As a leader of K-Beauty, she also appeared in a documentary featuring top star Kim Tae Hee. Reflecting on their 25-year relationship, Kim Tae Hee praised her as “a proud person who consistently works hard and studies,” showcasing their heartwarming friendship. The following day, Jung Saem Mool participated in interview content with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, who visited Korea to promote the movie ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2′. With Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany Young as the assistant MC, Jung Saem Mool prepared thoroughly by checking the English script and successfully led the interview, touching the guests with gifts that captured the beauty of Korea. In particular, Anne Hathaway gave her high praise, saying she wanted to receive makeup from her as soon as possible, proving the status of the K-Beauty Godmother.

‘Omniscient Interfering View’ airs every Saturday at 11:10 PM on MBC.
