Actress Kang Ye-won revealed that she has finally found her true self, moving beyond her identity as just an actress.
On the 21st, a video titled “Muzi Tells You All the Reasons Why Kang Ye-won Can’t Find a Boyfriend” was uploaded to Kang Ye-won’s YouTube channel, ‘Kkang Ye-won’.
In the video, Kang Ye-won invited her close younger friend, singer Muzi, to chat about various topics including dating, business, and YouTube. Kang Ye-won opened up about her recent changes, such as taking the subway alone without a manager and the struggles of being an entrepreneur, while Muzi discussed why she might be single and suggested content directions that play to her strengths.
Muzi shared, “One of the things I hear a lot while going around is ‘I don’t want to meet new people anymore.’ It’s hard enough to be considerate of the people we already have, so starting a new relationship is difficult.” Kang Ye-won agreed, saying, “Whether it’s a professional relationship or not, it’s so hard when you break up that I stop expecting things.” Muzi added, “I heard younger people don’t even date. They aren’t into drinking or the responsibility of a romantic relationship. Instead, they look for a sense of stability where they can escape.”
When talking about how people these days prefer lying at home to escape, Kang Ye-won related, saying, “That’s me. My sofa has actually sunk in.” Muzi jokingly suspected she wasn’t alone, asking, “Are you lying there by yourself?” Kang Ye-won laughed it off, replying, “I’m alone! Why do you keep thinking I’m with someone? I wish I were! You know me, so why are you doing this? Just tell me how to find someone!”
Muzi advised, “I always tell single people around me that if they say they really want a partner but ‘don’t know who to meet or where to meet them,’ it’ll never happen. You have to keep going out and speak your desires out loud.”
Kang Ye-won also shared her thoughts on aging and how to live her future life. She said, “I’ve been going around alone for a few years for personal activities. I used to be unable to live without a manager; I couldn’t even go to the bank and felt like I didn’t know how to do anything. Recently, I had some business in Yeongdeungpo and took the subway. Doing that made me feel like there’s nothing I can’t do alone. I’ve finally found the real Kang Ye-won. Because I was always stepping into characters as an actress, ‘I’ wasn’t there, but now I’m navigating everything well, no matter what happens.” Muzi agreed, adding, “I think starting a business was a great choice. You’ve become stronger by dealing with people and facing misunderstandings.”
While chatting, Muzi gave advice on Kang Ye-won’s content concerns, saying, “Kang Ye-won’s strength is that she’s truly hardworking. Once she starts something, she’s the type to charge straight ahead without looking back. She’s also very considerate of others. I think she’d do well with beauty content. Since she knows so much about it, people would be very curious about the products she actually uses.”
