KATSEYE, the global girl group born from the collaboration between HYBE and Geffen Records, is proving their “sustainable success” on the global charts.
According to the latest Billboard chart (dated May 9), KATSEYE’s ‘PINKY UP’ landed at 71st on the main singles chart, the ‘Hot 100’, marking its third consecutive week on the chart. The track previously debuted at 28th, setting a new record for the group. Despite the dip in rank, staying on the chart proves that stable streaming and consumption are continuing.
The momentum continues across global indicators. ‘PINKY UP’ reached 62nd on the Billboard ‘Global 200’, while ‘Gabriela’, released last year, has remained on the same chart for 45 weeks, currently sitting at 125th. The fact that songs from different release periods are charting simultaneously suggests that KATSEYE’s music isn’t just a temporary trend.
A similar pattern is appearing on the album charts. Their second EP, ‘BEAUTIFUL CHAOS’, which peaked at 4th on the ‘Billboard 200’, has stayed on the chart for 44 consecutive weeks, ranking 113th this week. Their debut EP, ‘SIS (Soft Is Strong)’, also made a comeback at 168th. This shows that fan interest is expanding beyond new releases to their entire catalog.
This collective rise seems partly due to the effect of offline events. KATSEYE previously released a limited edition for ‘Record Store Day’, which climbed the sales charts. Analysis suggests that the demand for limited editions led to a resurgence in the consumption of their existing albums and digital tracks.
Their presence is also strong in other major markets. ‘PINKY UP’ and ‘Touch’ both entered the UK Official Singles Chart and ranked side-by-side on the Spotify Global Chart. Their consumption distribution is notably not limited to a specific region.
KATSEYE is a team that started in the US market based on K-pop production methods under HYBE’s “multi-home, multi-genre” strategy. With less than two years since their debut, they are evaluated to have successfully established themselves, securing both major award nominations and chart achievements. With their third EP ‘WILD’ set for release in August, the next big point of interest is whether they can maintain this “long-run” momentum.
