Rapper Khundi Panda (real name Bok-hyun, 28) has denied all charges during his first court appearance. He was brought to trial on allegations of faking a mental illness to be assigned as a social service agent.
Judge Kim Jin-sung of the Seoul Western District Court presided over the first trial for Khundi Panda on the 11th.
Khundi Panda arrived at the court sporting short black hair, a white mask, and a black jacket, accompanied by two lawyers.
Regarding the prosecution’s claims, Khundi Panda’s legal team stated that they “deny the charges,” completely rejecting the allegations.
According to the prosecution, Khundi Panda is accused of pretending to have a mental illness to avoid active-duty military service and instead receive a social service agent designation.
Investigations revealed that while he was initially graded Level 2 (eligible for active duty) during his first military physical in 2016, he allegedly visited a psychiatrist around January or February 2022 to falsely claim symptoms of depression and borderline personality disorder to obtain a medical certificate.
It is understood that he submitted this certificate to the Gyeongin Regional Military Manpower Administration during a re-examination on June 30 of that year, resulting in a Level 4 supplementary service grade due to depressive disorder.
The next trial is scheduled for September 7 at 2 PM. The court plans to conduct witness questioning regarding the diagnosis and the military determination process at that time.
