Kim Dong-gyu Proves He's an All-Rounder, Mastering Everything from Historical Dramas to Teen Comedies in 'Absolute Value of Romance'

Actor Kim Dong-gyu is showcasing his incredible range in ‘Absolute Value of Romance’.

Last year, in the MBC drama ‘The Moon Flows in the Lee River’, Kim Dong-gyu played Han-sung, a Sungkyunkwan scholar deeply in love with Hong-nan (played by Park A-in). He left a lasting impression on viewers with his restrained gaze and delicate emotional delivery in every scene.

By bringing complex emotions to life in a three-dimensional way, he heightened the drama’s immersion. Combined with his warm visuals and intellectual aura, he received high praise for his stable performance, making it hard to believe it was his first time tackling a historical drama.

Now, Kim Dong-gyu has returned with a completely different charm. In the Coupang Play series ‘Absolute Value of Romance’, he takes on the role of Yoon Dong-ju, a Korean language teacher at Murim Girls’ High School. Known for being warm and kind to everyone, he anchors the series with his characteristic calmness and stability. With his delicate way of speaking and natural acting, he is making a strong presence even among the other flower-boy teachers.

Episodes 11 and 12 especially added depth to the story by revealing a twist in Yoon Dong-ju’s past. Contrasting with the pure image he has shown so far, he radiated a completely different side, showcasing a smile-less charisma and impressive action scenes that highlighted his tall physique.

As he continues to deliver versatile performances across various genres, fans are eagerly anticipating what he will do next.
