Kim Dong-gyu’s surprising past has been revealed!
In the 12th episode of the Coupang Play series ‘Absolute Value of Romance’ (written by Lee Min-ju / directed by Lee Tae-gon and Kim Jun-hyung) aired on May 15, the shocking past of Korean language teacher Yoon Dong-ju (played by Kim Dong-gyu) came to light.
Yoon Dong-ju, who played a key role in rescuing student Choi Ji-ah (played by Yoon Hye-rim) from gangsters, blamed himself, saying, “I tried not to fight ever again, but it happened again. And in front of the students, too. They saw my tattoos, what do I do now?”
In response, PE teacher Jung Ki-jeon (played by Son Jung-hyuk), while applying medicine to his wounds, recalled their first meeting: “Do you remember 11th grade? I took you to the hospital after you passed out in a motorcycle accident, and you just punched me, asking ‘Is it you?'”
Jung Ki-jeon mentioned that he even bought him porridge after being punched. Yoon Dong-ju confessed, “You were the first person to show me kindness without expecting anything in return. That’s why I felt ashamed. I thought, ‘If I keep living like this, I’ll become a truly bad person. Can I become someone like him?’ If I hadn’t met you then, I probably would have continued living that way.” Jung Ki-jeon replied, “At the time, I thought, ‘What kind of guy is this?’ but strangely, I felt like I’d see you again. When I saw that round head of yours at the College of Education orientation, I was so glad.”
Noh Da-ju (played by Kim Jae-hyun) marveled at Yoon Dong-ju’s effort, saying, “Dong-ju is no ordinary guy. A street fighter decided to study and got into our school’s College of Education in just two years. It’s unbelievable.”
