Kim Hyang-gi in ‘Absolute Value of Romance’ is entering a period of denying her feelings!
The Coupang Play series ‘Absolute Value of Romance’ (directed by Lee Tae-gon and Kim Jun-hyung) is a teen comedy about a high school girl who writes romance novels featuring flower-boy teachers. Her life takes a wild turn when she encounters them in real life, making her the protagonist of her own chaotic school days.
In episodes 9 and 10, releasing tomorrow, the shocking plot twists of the hit web novel ‘We Were Friends,’ written by ‘Ui-ju’ (Kim Hyang-gi), will spark viewers’ imaginations. Preview stills show ‘Sion’ (Cha Hak-yeon) confronting ‘Jaemin’ (Kim Jae-hyun), while ‘Yoon’ (Kim Dong-gyu) is seen tied up and unconscious, adding tension to the story. In particular, Sion’s visual—sporting a flashy red leather coat and a unique hairstyle—captures attention with a “madness-filled” charm that is a complete 180 from ‘Woo-soo’ in reality.
Things are also getting intense for ‘Ui-ju’ in real life. As she takes someone’s hand and realizes her true feelings, her confused expression signals the start of her “denial phase” of falling for someone. Meanwhile, a scene showing ‘Woo-soo’ (Cha Hak-yeon) with a relaxed expression—unlike ever before—sitting across from a new character, ‘Deuri’ (Jung Da-on), hints at an unexpected relationship and rising tension. Especially the shot of a timid ‘Ui-ju’ facing ‘Woo-soo’ raises expectations for how their teacher-student relationship, which was close to a “hate-relationship,” will reach a turning point.
The series is released every Friday at 8 PM on Coupang Play.
