Kim Hyang-gi Shines as the Ultimate Romance Queen in 'Absolute Value of Romance'!

Actress Kim Hyang-gi has officially claimed her title as the Romance Queen!

In episodes 11 and 12 of the Coupang Play series ‘Absolute Value of Romance’, released on the 15th, we saw Yeo Ui-ju (Kim Hyang-gi) facing her emotions honestly and showing her sincere heart toward her friends.

In these episodes, Yeo Ui-ju caught everyone’s attention with her thoughtful care for Jia (Yoon Hye-rim), a classmate who felt marginalized. When Jia went missing, Ui-ju visited a shelter to find her, where she ran into Ga Woo-su (Cha Hak-yeon) and the two teamed up to search for Jia.

After finding Jia at a part-time job receiving tips and drinks, Ui-ju gave her some stern but loving advice. When loan sharks began harassing Jia, Ui-ju bravely stepped in without hesitation. With Ga Woo-su’s help, they safely rescued Jia, and Ui-ju’s warmth successfully melted Jia’s frozen heart.

Yeo Ui-ju’s heroics didn’t stop there! As soon as she heard from Jenny (Gladys Bay) that the loan sharks had taken Jia again, she rushed to Ga Woo-su and a trio of handsome teachers to lead the rescue mission. The scene where she was left shocked by the unexpected action skills of her former bias, Korean teacher Yoon Dong-ju (Kim Dong-gyu), added a hilarious touch to the series.

Her journey to mend friendships was equally touching. While Choi Go-ya (Kim So-hee) was waiting in front of her house out of worry, Ui-ju suddenly shouted, “I like math!” and confessed her feelings for Ga Woo-su and her inner thoughts. This cleared up the misunderstandings between them and reaffirmed their strong bond. With Go-ya’s support, Ui-ju decided to confess her heart to Ga Woo-su, who might be leaving for the US. The episode ended on a high note with a “straight-forward ending” as she called out to him right after class, leaving fans eager for the next episode.

Kim Hyang-gi is receiving rave reviews for her performance, grounding the series while maintaining the vibe of a teen comedy. Her delicate facial expressions in every episode perfectly capture the growing pains of her character. Without needing flashy descriptions, her acting transforms ‘Absolute Value of Romance’ from a simple youth drama into a meaningful record of growth. Everyone is now waiting to see what colors will fill the next page of Yeo Ui-ju’s youth.

‘Absolute Value of Romance’ is released every Friday at 8 PM on Coupang Play.
