Kim Junsu, who wowed audiences in the musical ‘Beetlejuice’, was named the winner of the Acting Award in the Musical category at the ’62nd Baeksang Arts Awards’ held on the 8th at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
“I didn’t prepare a speech because I wasn’t sure if I’d actually win. I’m in trouble!” he joked. He added with a smile, “I came here just to enjoy the moment since the musical category was newly created, so it’s a huge honor to receive this award.”
“I can feel the weight of this award. I’ll take this as a sign to work even harder,” he said. He also shared a bold opinion, stating, “If I could have one wish, I hope that from next year, the awards are given separately for men and women.”
He further promised, “I will continue to deliver great acting and singing so that I can be a musical actor I’m proud of.”
The ’62nd Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci’ brought together top stars from TV, film, theater, and musicals, with Shin Dong-yup, Suzy, and Park Bo-gum returning as hosts. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Korean musicals, the new musical category was introduced to break genre boundaries and turn the event into a festival for all K-content.
The ceremony was broadcast live on JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4.
