Actors Kim Sang-kyung and Kwon Yul are set to make special appearances in MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Fifties Professionals’, promising a masterclass in acting!

Premiering on May 22 (Fri) as the successor to ’21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife’, MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Fifties Professionals’ (Planned by Kwon Sung-chang, Directed by Han Dong-hwa, Written by Jang Won-seop, Produced by Jumbo Film and Studio Dragon) tells the story of three men who seemed ordinary but once held significant power, brought back into action by fate. It is a salty action-comedy featuring “real pros” who have completed 50% of their lives and, while worn down by the world, still possess unwavering loyalty and instinct.
Kim Sang-kyung plays Han Kyung-wook, a former elite NIS black agent from the generation before Jung Ho-myung (played by Shin Ha-kyun), who was known by the codename ‘Shadow’. However, after becoming blinded by power and wealth, he built a massive criminal network through illicit deals with North Korea. After entering politics as a two-term lawmaker and challenging the mayoralty of Imcheon, he seeks to turn Yeongseondo into Asia’s largest island of pleasure and crime to seize even greater power and wealth.
Kwon Yul takes on the role of Chairman Do, Han Kyung-wook’s sponsor. While Chairman Do boasts a perfect exterior as a handsome, eloquent businessman from a prestigious overseas university, he is actually a puppet moving under Han Kyung-wook’s orders, haunted by the fear that he might be discarded one day.
On May 5 (Tue), the production team of ‘Fifties Professionals’ released character stills. Han Kyung-wook is seen on the phone in his office, exuding a cold yet relaxed aura with a sharp, thoughtful gaze. This has sparked curiosity about the multi-dimensional transformation of Han Kyung-wook from an NIS black agent to a greedy politician. Another still shows Chairman Do enjoying brunch while reading a newspaper, wearing a meaningful smile as if the situation is amusing, adding to the intrigue surrounding his role as Han Kyung-wook’s sponsor and “dark shadow.”
The production team of MBC’s ‘Fifties Professionals’ stated, “The special appearances of Kim Sang-kyung and Kwon Yul were made possible through their connection with Director Han Dong-hwa.” They added, “The two actors will add firepower to the whirlwind plot with their legendary acting skills. Please look forward to discovering the ‘truth of that day’ that has been buried for 10 years since ‘the incident of that day,’ and how these two will intertwine and interact with Shin Ha-kyun, Oh Jung-se, and Heo Sung-tae.”
Meanwhile, MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Fifties Professionals’ will premiere on May 22 (Fri) at 9:50 PM.
