Actor Lee Dong-hwi recently shared the reality of the relationship between a movie’s box office success and an actor’s pay. He revealed, “Just because a project is a hit doesn’t mean the actors make a lot of money.”
On the May 10th episode of SBS’s ‘My Little Old Boy’, Lee Dong-hwi appeared as a special MC, showcasing his great sense of humor.
Lee Dong-hwi has a stellar track record, appearing in three movies that surpassed 10 million viewers, including ‘Veteran’, ‘The Roundup: Punishment’, and ‘Extreme Job’.
When the ‘Mo-vengers’ expressed curiosity, suggesting he must have earned a fortune, Lee Dong-hwi quickly dismissed the idea, explaining, “Unless you’re involved in the production, actors can’t take home much.”
He shared a heartwarming story about his family, saying, “Still, my family loved it and watched the movies several times. My mother, in particular, invites her friends and acquaintances to watch my films more than 10 times. She’s always there during stage greetings, and because she’s there so often, I sometimes pretend not to recognize her!”
During the show, Lee Dong-hwi also called Ma Dong-seok and Yoo Jae-suk the “benefactors of his life,” sharing their special bonds.
Reflecting on his time working with Ma Dong-seok in ‘The Roundup: Punishment’, he said, “I learned so much from Ma Dong-seok. He takes great care of everyone around him and, by producing, he constantly creates opportunities for fellow actors and staff.”
He also expressed his gratitude toward Yoo Jae-suk, whom he worked with in the MBC ‘Hangout with Yoo’ spin-off group MSG Wannabe, stating, “I received so much love while doing variety shows, so I feel incredibly grateful.”
