Lee Jae-wook and Shin Ye-eun are all set to deliver some serious healing chemistry in ‘Dr. Island Boy’, the follow-up to the ratings hit ‘Scarecrow’.
The team behind ENA’s new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Dr. Island Boy’ (directed by Lee Myung-woo, written by Kim Ji-soo), which premieres on June 1, has released couple stills of Do Ji-ui (played by Lee Jae-wook) and Yuk Ha-ri (played by Shin Ye-eun), who will become each other’s guides to happiness.
Based on the webtoon ‘Jonber Doctor’ by author Kim Tae-pung, ‘Dr. Island Boy’ is a medical human romance featuring public health doctor Do Ji-ui and the mysterious nurse Yuk Ha-ri, both stationed on the notorious island of Pyeondong-do, a place everyone tries to avoid.
The story of this ‘island couple’ meeting on a remote island, saving lives and learning about love through the residents of the village, promises to bring warm laughter and heart-fluttering moments.
The released stills capture the evolving relationship between the two, showing Yuk Ha-ri breaking through Do Ji-ui’s iron-clad walls. First, Yuk Ha-ri catches the eye as she appears unexpectedly before Do Ji-ui, who isn’t exactly thrilled to be on Pyeondong-do. While Do Ji-ui seems flustered by Yuk Ha-ri’s unique way of wearing headphones, her steady and determined gaze sparks curiosity about their first encounter.
A late-night date in the bushes was also captured! Yuk Ha-ri steps up once again to help Do Ji-ui adjust to the challenges of Pyeondong-do. It’s heartwarming to see Yuk Ha-ri flashing a childlike smile while showing off the island’s treasures, while Do Ji-ui looks on in admiration.
As they grow accustomed to the unfamiliar Pyeondong-do, the distance between them closes, creating a heart-fluttering tension. Fans are already curious about the medical human romance that will unfold between Do Ji-ui, who must endure the notorious island, and Yuk Ha-ri, who leads the way for him.
Speaking about his chemistry with Shin Ye-eun, Lee Jae-wook shared, “She had a bright and radiant vibe. At the same time, I felt she was a relaxed actress who gives trust to her partner. Working with her, I realized she is an actress who is prepared for every single moment. She is honest with her emotions, and that energy naturally flowed onto the set.”
Shin Ye-eun also commented, “Since we are the same age, I already felt an internal closeness. My first impression was that he is a kind person who isn’t shy. While he must have had a lot to prepare for his acting, seeing him meticulously take care of the entire set, not just his performance, made me realize he is a mature actor I can learn a lot from. He was a grateful partner who created an environment where many actors and staff could work comfortably.”
