Disney+ has confirmed that ‘Doctor Island Boy’ will be released on June 1.
Premiering every Monday and Tuesday starting June 1 on Disney+, ‘Doctor Island Boy’ is a medical human romance featuring public health doctor ‘Do Ji-yi’ (Lee Jae-wook) and the mysterious nurse ‘Yuk Ha-ri’ (Shin Ye-eun), who both end up on the notorious island ‘Pyundong-do’ that everyone avoids.
The released poster captures the attention of viewers by showing the moment ‘Do Ji-yi’ and ‘Yuk Ha-ri’ face each other at a subtle distance, as if conscious of one another, under the blue sea and dazzling sunlight.
The contrast between ‘Do Ji-yi’, who tries to draw a line with a guarded gaze, and ‘Yuk Ha-ri’, who naturally blends into his life, previews the start of their playful bickering and heart-fluttering romance on the remote island of ‘Pyundong-do’.
Above all, the exciting and playful romantic chemistry between Lee Jae-wook and Shin Ye-eun is the most anticipated point of ‘Doctor Island Boy’. Lee Jae-wook takes on the role of ‘Do Ji-yi’, a public health doctor who avoids islands due to trauma related to the sea but unexpectedly gets assigned to Pyundong-do.
Shin Ye-eun transforms into ‘Yuk Ha-ri’, a nurse with a kind and meddlesome nature that no one can ignore, multi-dimensionally portraying the complex inner self hidden within her bright and warm energy.
In particular, the collaboration between Director Lee Myung-woo, who showed sensible directing in ‘Boyhood’ and ‘The Fiery Priest’, and Writer Kim Ji-soo, known for her delicate writing, further raises expectations for the quality of the work. As it is based on the popular KakaoPage webtoon ‘Jonber Doctor’, expectations from fans of the original are also high.
The medical human romance ‘Doctor Island Boy’ will be released every Monday and Tuesday on Disney+ starting June 1.
