Joo In-young, Woo Hyun, Kim Ki-cheon, and Gil Hae-yeon are set to bring a mix of laughter, emotion, and raw reality to Pyeondong-do!

ENA’s new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Doctor Island Boy’ (Directed by Lee Myung-woo / Written by Kim Ji-soo) released new stills on May 21 featuring Hwang Shin-hye (as Joo In-young), Woo Hyun (as Park Chun-shik), Kim Ki-cheon (as Lee Jang-soo), and Gil Hae-yeon (as Oh Mi-ja).

Based on the popular webtoon ‘Jonber Doctor’ (Writer Kim Tae-pung) currently serialized on KakaoPage and KakaoWebtoon, ‘Doctor Island Boy’ is a medical human romance. It follows the story of public health doctor Do Ji-yi (Lee Jae-wook) and the mysterious nurse Yuk Ha-ri (Shin Ye-eun) as they arrive at the notorious island of Pyeondong-do, a place everyone tries to avoid.

The released photos tease the actors’ flawless performances and realistic character portrayals. First, Hwang Shin-hye catches the eye while handling complaints at the Pyeondong Health Center. As the longest-serving resident of the center, she is a character who navigates various conflicts and worries as a resident of Pyeondong-do. Her signature bowl cut and round glasses make her unique character even more anticipated.

We also get a glimpse of the “malicious” complainers visiting the 24-hour Pyeondong Health Center. Park Chun-shik looks particularly interesting as he stubbornly reacts to the doctor’s prescriptions. It turns out he is the village head, possessing absolute power to sway Pyeondong-do with a single word. His rival, Lee Jang-soo, who is constantly eyeing the village head position, was also revealed. Lee Jang-soo’s fierce protests at the reception desk over his prescriptions are sure to spark curiosity.

Meanwhile, Oh Mi-ja appears as a warm and reliable supporter. Her eyes are filled with affection for her beloved granddaughter, Yuk Ha-ri. Fans are eager to see how Oh Mi-ja, who wishes for nothing but Ha-ri’s happiness, will contribute to the story.

Lee Jae-wook shared his thoughts, saying, “This project features actors of various ages. Above all, the seniors kept us grounded, making the set feel very stable.” He added, “From moments where I was jaw-dropped by their acting to moments where I laughed until my stomach hurt, it was a time of great learning.” Shin Ye-eun also expressed her admiration, saying, “I was amazed by the seniors’ acting since the script reading. I approached the set with a heart full of respect.” She continued, “While encountering the episodes of the Pyeondong-do people, I, as Shin Ye-eun and not just Yuk Ha-ri, was able to laugh and heal a lot. I’m certain viewers will feel the same.”

The drama premieres on June 1.
