Rising star Lee Jae-yi has captured the attention of global viewers with her lovely presence in ‘Soul Mate’.
In the Netflix Japan series ‘Soul Mate’, released on the 14th, Lee Jae-yi plays the role of ‘Hwang Su-ah’, the younger sister of the protagonist Yohan (Ok Taecyeon). She immediately made an impression by adding bright and cheerful energy to the overall plot. Her natural acting and vivid visuals combined to soften the atmosphere of the work.
‘Soul Mate’ is a Korea-Japan joint project planned by Netflix Japan with the participation of Korean production company GTist. The story follows Ryu (Isomura Hayato), who leaves everything behind to go to Japan and is saved by Yohan at a church. Over 10 years, traveling between Berlin, Seoul, and Tokyo, they face and heal each other’s wounds.
While the series has been garnering attention for its emotional narrative and delicate emotional lines since its release, Lee Jae-yi’s performance has also stood out. Appearing first at Hwang Yohan’s boxing match, Hwang Su-ah uses her naturally friendly personality to close the distance with Ryu, smoothly connecting the flow of the plot. She then serves as a pivot connecting the emotional lines between characters, contributing to the development of the story.
Furthermore, in her relationship with Hwang Yohan, she left a lasting impression by portraying a wide range of emotions, from the comfortable chemistry typical of real-life siblings to a touching side where they rely on each other. Lee Jae-yi stably embodied the character of Hwang Su-ah, convincingly completing a bright and warm image. Even amidst a potentially heavy plot, she refreshed the mood with every appearance and increased immersion through natural Japanese acting and delicate emotional expression.
Lee Jae-yi added vitality to the work with her own unique color and energy. Having once again proven her potential through ‘Soul Mate’, there is great anticipation for her future steps. ‘Soul Mate’ is available for viewing on Netflix.
