Singer Lee Juck has sent an indirect love call for a collaboration with AKMU’s Lee Chan-hyuk, while thoughtfully mentioning he doesn’t want to put too much pressure on him.
Lee Juck appeared as a guest on KBS Cool FM’s ‘Paul Kim’s Gayo Gwangjang’ on May 20.
During the show, a listener asked if Lee Juck knew he was being called the “90s Lee Chan-hyuk” because of the experimental nature of his group Panic. Paul Kim laughed and suggested, “Shouldn’t we call Lee Chan-hyuk the ’21st century Lee Juck’ instead?”
Lee Juck revealed he was aware of the nickname, noting, “Lee Chan-hyuk did a lot of experimental things during his solo album while wearing sunglasses. I’ve seen people post videos of Panic’s songs alongside his.” He added, “I really like Chan-hyuk and AKMU’s music, so I’m happy about it.”
He continued, “When Chan-hyuk debuted and was asked in interviews who he wanted to collaborate with, he mentioned senior Lee Juck. He was very glad when we first met. When I told him I’d seen those interviews, he was happy too. He even invited me as the first guest when AKMU did ‘The Seasons.’ We definitely share a deep connection. I’d love to collaborate someday, but in my opinion, I’m not a fan of the dynamic where seniors call successful juniors for a project. It can be a situation where the junior finds it hard to refuse. For example, if Chan-hyuk said, ‘Lee Juck hyung, I’m doing this, do you want to join?’ I’d go with a joyful heart. I’ve jokingly told him to write a song for me or do a duet, but I feel like that could be a burden.”
To this, Paul Kim joked, “It might be because you don’t understand people these days, hyung. It might actually be hard for him to ask you.” Lee Juck jokingly replied, “That’s why I’m subtly dropping hints,” sparking laughter.
