SBS is building up excitement for its new variety show ‘Pomnyun Road: Monk and Guest’ by releasing character teasers for actor Lee Sang-yoon and Woochan of All Day Project. Premiering on the 19th, the show is a road trip featuring national mentor Ven. Pomnyun and various guests as they seek their true selves through a series of “immediate questions and answers.”
This marks Ven. Pomnyun’s first appearance in a road variety show, and it is garnering huge attention for being the first time parts of his 34-year pilgrimage to India are revealed on a variety program. More than just a travel show, it promises a unique blend of spiritual practice, travel, and realistic advice, offering fresh fun and relatability.
In the released character teaser, Lee Sang-yoon reveals a surprising side that differs from his usual elite image. Having met Ven. Pomnyun on a previous show, Lee expressed his joy at reuniting after eight years and wondered if he could finally find the answers he seeks. However, once the journey began, he transformed into a “question bomber,” unleashing curiosity he had bottled up for eight years. Whether traveling or resting, Lee was fully immersed, constantly showering Ven. Pomnyun with questions. He even sparked laughter from the monk and viewers by repeatedly asking, “Can I ask just one more thing?” every time the conversation seemed to be ending.
Woochan stood out with his free-spirited energy and genuine charm, fitting for the youngest member. Even in an unfamiliar environment like India, he did not shrink back, using his social skills to communicate with locals and bargain for prices, truly earning his title as the “Golden Maknae.” Lee Sang-yoon marveled, saying, “A friend leading the MZ generation is truly different,” while Noh Hong-chul also could not hide his surprise.
Woochan further solidified his unique character with his confidence, even in front of Ven. Pomnyun.
