Lee Yu-jin of 'Be Melodramatic' Reunites with Director Lee Byeong-heon to Take on a New Challenge in 'Director's Arena'!

Actor Lee Yu-jin is diving into a brand new challenge as a short-form drama director through the project ‘Director’s Arena’. Fans are especially excited to see him reunite with director Lee Byeong-heon, the mastermind behind ‘Be Melodramatic’.

Since his debut in the 2013 MBC drama ‘The Goddess of Fire’, Lee Yu-jin has been steadily active in various works, including ‘Age of Youth 2’, ‘Familiar Wife’, ‘Be Melodramatic’, ‘Do You Like Brahms?’, and ‘Three Siblings’.

He has also shown his presence in films such as ‘Two Men’, ‘Dad is a Daughter’, and ‘Be With You’, earning praise for his stable acting and soft image. He particularly caught the eyes of viewers in JTBC’s ‘Be Melodramatic’, where he naturally portrayed a realistic youth character as a PD.

Lee Yu-jin is well-known as the son of actress Lee Hyo-jung and the nephew of actor Lee Ki-young. He built a strong acting foundation as a graduate of the Department of Theatre at Dongguk University.

‘Director’s Arena’ is a survival program where participants from various fields, including actors, creators, and artists, compete by planning and directing their own short dramas. Participants will showcase their unique directing styles and storytelling skills within a limited runtime, competing with new visual languages suited for the short-form content era.

The show promises to differentiate itself from typical survival programs by focusing on the individual personality and directing philosophy of each participant rather than just being a variety-style competition. The program plans to capture the creative capabilities and sensibilities of the participants by evaluating their directing methods throughout the entire production process.

Lee Yu-jin shared, “I am a 12th-year actor, but the dream I had even before becoming an actor was to be a director.” He added, “I plan to convey my sincerity through a story based on my own real-life experiences of struggling while preparing a short film.”

Meanwhile, ‘Director’s Arena’ will premiere on ENA on the 15th at 11 PM.
