Top vocalists from various genres are gearing up for the Han Young-ae special of ‘Immortal Songs’!

The May 16 episode of KBS 2TV’s music variety show ‘Immortal Songs’ will be dedicated to the legendary artist Han Young-ae.

Han Young-ae is a legendary female vocalist who left an indelible mark on Korean music history with her unique blues style. Since debuting in 1976 as a member of the folk group Haebaraghi, she has released numerous masterpieces considered classics of Korean popular music, such as “Is Anyone There,” “Tuning,” “Rhinoceros,” and “I Look At You,” earning her the nickname “Witch of Sound.” For this special, Sohyang, Jung In, Jung Dong-ha, Go Hoon-jung X Lee Chang-yong, Seodo Band, and Do Won-kyung will take the stage as competitors.

Among them, Do Won-kyung is drawing significant attention as she makes her first-ever appearance on ‘Immortal Songs’ 34 years after her debut. As a first-generation female rocker in Korea, Do Won-kyung shared her reason for joining, saying, “This is my first competition since debuting. I gathered a lot of courage after hearing the name of senior Han Young-ae.” She further displayed her rocker spirit, adding, “I came out today with a ‘I won’t let you get away with this’ vibe, even prepping my mic stand.”

When Sohyang mentioned that Jung Dong-ha is the most frequent winner of ‘Immortal Songs,’ Do Won-kyung briefly lamented, “Why did I have to appear now?” before jokingly adding, “Since Dong-ha has won so many times, I hope he gives the win to me this time,” leaving the entire set in laughter.

The song lineup is also creating high expectations. “Korea’s Mariah Carey” Sohyang chose “Tuning,” “The Little Giant of R&B” Jung In chose “Wind,” “The Emperor of Live” Jung Dong-ha chose “Yeoulmok,” “The Talented Brothers of the Musical World” Go Hoon-jung X Lee Chang-yong chose “Is Anyone There,” “The Creator of Joseon Pop” Seodo Band chose “As It Is Deep in My Heart,” and “The Pride of Female Rockers” Do Won-kyung chose “Rhinoceros.”

Additionally, Han Young-ae will perform a special stage to celebrate her 50th debut anniversary. She reportedly sang her new song “SnowRain,” released after about four years, which moved both the junior artists and the judging panel to tears.
