Ma Dong-seok's 'The Roundup 5' Begins Filming! A Fierce Showdown with Villain Kim Jae-young Awaits

The ‘The Roundup’ series is back for its fifth installment!

‘The Roundup 5’ follows the exhilarating crime-busting operation of Monster Cop Ma Seok-do (Ma Dong-seok) as he takes on Lee Kang-tae (Kim Jae-young), who launches the worst crime after an eight-year wait. Official filming (crank-in) began on the 24th.

The heart and soul of the series, Ma Dong-seok, returns as the irreplaceable Monster Cop Ma Seok-do. Once again, Ma Dong-seok is leading the entire project, participating not only in acting but also in screenwriting and production. Now promoted to team leader of the Violent Crime Unit, Ma Seok-do will showcase even more intense action as he leads an uncompromising operation against evolved crimes.

Actor Kim Jae-young has been cast as the fifth-generation villain, Lee Kang-tae, who will go head-to-head with Ma Seok-do. Having shown powerful acting in dramas like ‘Idol Eye’ and ‘The Judge from Hell’, Kim Jae-young is expected to reveal a completely new side of himself as Lee Kang-tae, a ruthless criminal who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

The lineup of talented supporting actors is also generating buzz. Actor Seo Hyun-woo joins as Detective Ko Young-min, a reliable pillar of the Violent Crime Unit Team 1 and Ma Seok-do’s helper. Lee Hak-joo joins as Han Sang-gu, an accomplice to Lee Kang-tae, adding tense energy to the plot. Additionally, multi-entertainer Baek Hyun-jin will play Violent Crime Unit Captain Kim Min-chul, and Kim Min-ho, known for his comedic roles in the ‘New Recruit’ series and the movie ‘6/45’, joins as Buldak, completing a unique cast.

Director Heo Myung-haeng, who served as the action director for the series and helmed ‘The Roundup 4’, is back in the director’s chair to once again deliver his signature high-impact action sequences.

The ‘The Roundup’ series has set an unprecedented record as the first Korean film series to achieve a ‘triple 10 million’ milestone, surpassing 40 million cumulative viewers. All eyes are now on whether ‘The Roundup 5’ can captivate audiences with an even more evolved story and excitement while maintaining its original identity.
