Kakao Entertainment’s music platform Melon announced on the 11th that singer-songwriter DeVita has been selected as the ‘TrackZero’ Artist of May.
Since her official debut in 2020 with the mini-album ‘CREME’, DeVita has established her own unique musical identity in the indie scene, blending R&B, pop, and baroque sounds.
This past March, she released her first full-length album, ‘The Tree is Burning’. DeVita shared that she “sublimated a deeply personal narrative into music,” explaining that she translated her experience of “finally finding light in the darkness” after dealing with depersonalization, panic disorder, and a life-threatening episode.
Melon described her as “an artist who shapes a deeply personal narrative into the universal language of myth and classics, allowing listeners to feel the story as their own.”
Meanwhile, ‘TrackZero’ is the only indie music support project in the Korean music platform industry. The ‘Artist of the Month’ is open to artists who have released music in Korea, while the ‘Recommended New Song of the Month’ is chosen from tracks released within the last 3 to 4 months.
