Min Hee-jin, the former CEO of ADOR and general producer for NewJeans (and current CEO of OK Records), is set to give an invited lecture at Chonnam National University’s May 18th Research Institute on the 12th.
The May 18th Research Institute announced on the 10th that this special lecture featuring CEO Min Hee-jin will take place at the Yongji-gwan Convention Hall of Chonnam National University.
Held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the institute and the 46th anniversary of the May 18th Democratization Movement, the event is themed “K-Culture, K-Pop, Imagining in Gwangju at Chonnam National University!” The lecture aims to explore the essential values of Korean culture and pop music, which have become global phenomena, by connecting them with the democratic spirit of May 18th. There will also be discussions on whether Gwangju, a city of democracy, human rights, and peace, can be reborn as a hub for cultural imagination beyond its historical significance.
Min Hee-jin is a renowned cultural planner and former Creative Director at SM Entertainment, where she worked on the concepts for K-pop groups that have made waves globally, including SHINee, f(x), EXO, and Red Velvet.
She later launched NewJeans as the CEO of ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE. She has since established her own new entertainment agency, OK Records.
Min Byeong-ro, director of the May 18th Research Institute, stated, “We organized this lecture to reinterpret Gwangju’s democratic spirit through K-Culture and to expand cultural touchpoints with the younger generation on our 30th anniversary.”
