Minji’s Birthday Post: A Signal for NewJeans’ Return?

Minji's Birthday Post: A Signal for NewJeans' Return?

Minji’s recent updates have finally been revealed after a period of uncertainty regarding her future.

On the 7th, NewJeans’ official social media accounts shared a post celebrating Minji’s birthday with the caption “Happy Minji Day.” The post included photos of a person, presumed to be Minji, making, shaping, and packaging cookie dough.

Minji reportedly visited birthday cafes prepared by fans to celebrate her special day. She expressed her gratitude by leaving home-baked cookies, four-cut photos, and handwritten letters on the cafe door handles.

In her handwritten letter, Minji wrote, “Bunnies, it’s been so long. Has everyone been doing well?” She added, “There are so many things I want to tell Bunnies, but there will definitely be an opportunity, so please always stay healthy and happy.”

Some in the music industry are interpreting this post as a positive signal that Minji is returning.

NewJeans paused official activities after member Danielle terminated her exclusive contract last December. While there were rumors of a comeback with a three-member lineup consisting of Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein, the atmosphere seems to be shifting with the release of Minji’s birthday content.

Recently, reports of Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein being spotted in Copenhagen, Denmark, have spread across online communities and social media, strengthening the analysis that NewJeans is preparing for a comeback. The fact that the official SNS, which had been inactive due to the exclusive contract dispute, became active again starting with Hyein’s birthday content also supports this outlook.

ADOR had maintained a cautious stance regarding Minji’s status, stating, “We are continuing dialogues with Minji to broaden mutual understanding.”

All eyes are now on whether NewJeans will reorganize as a four-member group including Minji and return to the stage.
